Hello beautiful people from all across the world! If you're into photography, hopefully at some point the name Lensbaby has crossed your path. While my friends don't really understand the technical aspect of these lenses, they sure know all about my love for this company. Ever since I bought my first double glass creative kit, I dreamed of once getting my name on one of the photos they share on social media. I never thought it a million years would I get an email to beta test the new optics they were going to announce. That day came and I was over the moon.
So what is this little optic I'm talking about today?
THE SWEET 80!
I'll admit that my favorite optic is the Edge 80, so when I heard they were bringing the Sweet 80 into the mix of focal lengths, my little heart grew just a tiny bit bigger. The 80 mm focal is, in my opinion, the best for capturing portraits. The compression and bokeh on this lens is so beautiful and easy to use. Wide open you get the most bokeh and creamy colors in the background and when tilted just right you can add an interesting lensflare to create that extra uniqueness to your photos.
My favorite part of this lens is the selective focus. With the tilt, you're able to draw the viewers attention to one particular part of the photo. The texture creates movement toward the object and eliminates any distracting elements in the background. This works well for travel photos and getting rid of any of those pesky tourists that just wander into your shot. We all know those people... haha
With that being said, the Sweet 80 is also great to add to your bag for traveling. It's incredibly light and compact, and if you're like me, you want to be able to just toss one or two of your lenses into your purse and head out. I hate carrying a huge backpack with my gear, so being able to eliminate that headache is exactly what I want in a lens.
Just a few other little details.
- It fits into the Composer System.
- Optic can be purchased separately.
- I also has a "close up" focal option for those cute little details.
- The optic alone weighs 5.6 oz. With the Composer, 8.9 oz.
- Wide open is a 2.8 aperture.
Overall, I would recommend this optic to anyone thinking about buying it. It's incredibly easy to use and super sharp! It's a great addition to any photographers bag, whether you're just starting out, or have many years under your belt.
If you're interested in making the purchase, head over to the Lensbaby website and click buy! Happy shooting ya'll!
