I'm sitting here at my computer trying to put together words for this blog and all I can keep thinking is...
quirky.
My favorite way to tell a story is by looking outside of the box and creating something new and fresh.
What will push me to see a subject different and what will be an interesting photo to my clients.
Are the photos that I will be creating something Instagram-able and cool to the new generation?
Not to mention easy & quick to create?
Enter the Sol 45.
This little lens is the newest of the Lensbaby line and it is exactly what "quirky" is.
It's similar to the Sweet 50 in the fact that it has a sweet spot of focus but too be honest, the Sweet 50 is my least used optic in my bag. The Sol 45 though, quickly has become attached to my camera. And why is that?
1. It's a pancake lens.
aka super small and can fit in my back pocket when I want to carry it around.
2. It has a fixed aperture of 3.5
this allows for more time to focus on what I want to compose in the photo rather then my settings.
3. Built in Bokeh Blades
what are these? basically the texture you see in the images are created inside the camera and not done in photoshop.
4. The tilt option
one thing thing I always test out with my Lensbaby's is how much sun flair can be produced. with the tilt option, I can really create a circular rainbow around my subject and it allows me to tilt it to where the best position is for the flair. *Added bonus* When you implement the blades, there is even more of a sun flair and they create beautiful glows to the photo depending on how much of the blade is being used.
5. Did I mention how small it is?!
i love how tiny it is!
Overall, I know I will be using this lens more with my high school seniors because of how interesting and different the outcome is for the photos. But I found that it's super easy to focus and tell it exactly where you want the focus to go and not to mention the fact that I can focus more on the person in front of my camera rather then the tech side of the lens with the built in fixed aperture.
