A few days ago, between sessions, I took some time to walk around and just take photos. With all that has been going on in life, it was so relaxing to just forget about everything going on and go back to being inspired by the things around me. So many times, I get stuck in the day ahead of me that it's easy to forget what truly makes me happy. The stress and anxiety created on a daily basis isn't that big in the scheme of things. One of my favorite books, The Element: How Finding Your Passion Changes Everything, Ken Robinson shows several photos with the planets relative to the universe. He talks about how earth is a pretty good size compared to Venus, Mars, and Pluto but when pulled back next to the Sun and then another Planet called Arcturus, earth disappears. He goes on to say, "We can take away some encouraging things from this. One is a bit of perspective. I mean, really, whatever you woke up worrying about this morning, get over it. How important in the greater scheme of things can it possibly be? Make your peace and move on."
I've read this to several people and when stuff is really bothering me, I think back to those images. Nothing can be that bad that I can't sleep on it and wake up over it in the morning. With that being said, I know sometimes it doesn't really happen, but I hope that most times it does.
After taking a break, even if it was for only 45 minutes and some shots on my handy dandy camera, it really helped clear my mind and helped me relax and realize that things could be worse. I'm happy with the life I have and while things may be going on, they're out of my control and I just have to be content with that.
